Members and Friends Meeting: Making Women Central to Local Government Planning

The National Women’s Council of Ireland invites you to attend our workshop exploring women’s representation in local government on Tuesday 30 June from 10:30am to 3:30pm in Longford Women’s Link, Willow House, Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford.

This event is being held in conjunction with Longford Women’s Link and the Women's Manifesto Project, the National Collective of Community-based Women’s Networks and the Community Workers Co-operative. It is open to members and friends of the hosting organisations and those who wish to learn more about embedding women’s equality into local government.

On the day, speakers will provide an outline of:

  • Current developments in local alignment across the country
  • How women’s organisations are successfully engaging with local alignment
  • Opportunities for women’s collective engagement in local alignment processes
  • Public sector positive duty – how we can use it as a tool in our work

Speakers will include:

  •     Niamh Allen, National Women’s Council of Ireland
  •     Ann Irwin, Community Workers Cooperative
  •     Miriam Holt, National Collective of Community-based Women’s Networks
  •     Louise Lovett, Longford Women's Link and Women's Manifesto Project
  •     Rachel Mullen, Equality Rights Alliance
  •     Eilís Ní Chaithnía, National Women’s Council of Ireland
