"A Woman's Right to Health"

The right to health is enshrined under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). As health is a common concern for all women, the Women's Human Rights Alliance*, have come together to prepare a 'shadow' or alternative report on how the Irish Government is meeting its commitments to women's right to health. A participatory consultation process for women began in June 2009, so far over 250 women from diverse backgrounds, in 9 regions, discussed how changes in government policies can impact positively or negatively on women's health status.

The purpose of this workshop is to inform members about the work of the Women's Human Rights Alliance and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). Most importantly it will provide a valuable opportunity to hear about the specific issues in relation to health affecting Older Women and to identify the key issues which need to be reflected in the WRHA parallel report.
