NWCI Urges YOU to Witness Trilogy
11 September 2010 - 25 September 2010
Brace yourself for a spectacular show!
Get ready Ireland because Trilogy is knocking on your door. The National Women's Council of Ireland urges you not just to attend this magnificent show, but to take part in it. Trilogy's director, Nic Greene, invites Irish women to dance. The show welcomes bodies of all shapes and sizes as powerful pieces of visual ecstasy.
Nic Green is brilliant theatre-maker who explores the ins-and-outs of women, bodies, and feminism. She portrays feminism in a light of sheer magic as women dance upon the stage with raw and majestic grace. But there's plenty more hidden in this performance of a lifetime, which has already provoked a powerful debate following its production at the Edinburgh Festival.
Local women direct, produce, and act in Trilogy. You never know, it could be your neighbour, the barista, or your dentist on stage. It could be you.
Don't miss out on this radiant piece being performed at the Dublin Fringe Festival from September 11 - September 26. If you'd like to participate in the event, and you will be prepared, please contact Kate at kate@fringefest.com.
We'll see you there!
Call Out for Participants
Trilogy at ABSOLUT Fringe 2010
Women of all ages, backgrounds, shapes, sizes, levels of fitness and ability are sought to perform naked in an ensemble dance celebrating the female form, as part of Nic Green's extraordinary, multi award winning show Trilogy during this year's ABSOLUT Fringe.
A show in three parts, Trilogy is a celebratory venture into modern-day feminism and examines and interrogates the joys and complexities of being a woman today whilst driving steadfast into the future with commitment and hope.
The first part ends with a high energy naked dance performed by all volunteers. It is a powerful and emotive time, presenting the female form in a different and empowered way. Previous participants have found involvement in the production to be a deeply affecting, uplifting and fun experience. It is about women joining together to express and celebrate their individuality and the differences between them.
The volunteer performers take part in workshop sessions with Nic in the week leading up to the show, including an initial meeting to discuss everything over tea and cake. Please be assured that the greatest care is taken of all the participants. Everyone is welcome.
A runaway hit at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe, Trilogy has wowed audiences in London's Barbican and at the recent Bristol Mayfest. Now coming to Dublin, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a performance which continues to challenge and inspire.
"Trilogy is angry, joyous, heartfelt, rigorous and radiant with hope. It makes you want to fling off your clothes and dance." Lyn Gardner, The Guardian.
"...an unexpectedly emotional and intellectual whammy - hilariously funny, charged with raw honesty and serious intent, and graced with generosity of spirit" Mary Brennan, The Herald.
