Call for Papers for 1916 Hidden Histories Conference at NUI Galway and UCD

Call for papers for inter-institutional conferences taking place at NUI Galway and UCD next October as part of the arts and research project, '1916: Home: 2016'.

The conferences juxtapose the 20 year anniversary of the closure of the last Magdalene laundry with the centenary of the Rising to question, and trouble, the unfilled promises of the Proclamation, particularly regarding gender equality and children.

Alongside the conferences, there is a programme of international artistic events taking place in October also, occurring throughout Ireland, the UK, the US, and Brazil. Part of the Galway conference on 7 October includes a performance keynote by 10 members of 'Speaking of I.M.E.L.D.A'.
