Know the difference between Safe and Sinister this Valentine’s Day

Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Young women don't need to be in a 'domestic' relationship to experience abuse. Ahead of Valentine’s Day 2015, Women’s Aid is launching its national public awareness campaign targeting young women experiencing abuse and violence in dating relationships.

The 2in2u campaign encourages young women to spot the dangers signs of dating abuse, take our relationships health check and protect themselves online by providing useful information to combat online stalking and abuse.

2in2u runs from 12th February and is a two week long radio, online and poster advertising campaign targeting young women aged 18-25 years old.
For more information visit the 2in2u website or take the Women's Aid 2in2u relationship quiz here.

• 1 in 5 women over the age of 18 experience physical, emotional and sexual abuse in Ireland.
• In a national survey on domestic abuse, almost 60% of people who had experienced severe abuse in intimate relationships experienced the abuse for the first time under the age of 25.
• 1 in 2 young women killed in Ireland are murdered by a current or ex boyfriend.

Women's Aid need your support to get the message out there!

• Let young women know that they can speak to someone in confidence on the Women’s Aid National Freephone Helpline (1800 341 900) to help make sense of what’s going on in their relationship.
