Limerick Women’s Network hosts ‘Arts Display of Knitted Quilts & Portraits’ commemorating women who died in Irish maternity services

Wednesday, March 08, 2017

As part of Limerick Women's Network International Women's Day Celebrations.

The Network is working with a local knitting group to create a unique one-off roleplay about the background to the work of The Elephant Collective - individuals and groups who have been affected by, or have concerns over maternal deaths in Ireland.

A display of knitted quilt and portraits of 8 women from our multi media exhibition, Picking up the Threads:  Remaking the Fabric of Care.  This was created to commemorate women who died in our maternity services.  We are also very actively campaigning for automatic inquests for ALL maternal deaths to become mandatory, as part of the Corner's Bill.  We're working closely with TD Clare Daly to achieve this.

This promises to be a wonderful day. Please join us!

Thanks to Limerick Women's Network for their incredible support, and also all at Ormston House for providing such a beautiful venue.
