#FemFest - major conference with young women!

#FemFest is taking bookings again! A small number of tickets have become available - register now!

As a culmination of our year's work with young women on body image and leadership, NWCI are planning a large scale conference for young women, Looking Glass #FemFest.

If you're a young woman aged 16-24, interested in discussing the issues of body image and leadership, registrer here!

#FemFest will be a fun and engaging space about young women and for young women.  It will combine passionate and dynamic speakers of all ages, with musicians and artists both new and emerging!

Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality with special responsibility for New Communities, Culture, Equality and Drugs Strategy will open #FemFest!

The list of inspiring speakers include:

  • Louise O'Neill,  Author of 'Only Ever Yours' and 'Asking For It'
  • Lynn Ruane, Student Union President, Trinity College Dublin
  • Clare Daly, T.D.
  • Tara Flynn, Actress, comedian and writer
  • Tom Meagher, White Ribbon Campaign Advocate
  • Nadya Bhettay, Chief Financial Officer, Vodafone
  • Ailbhe Smyth, Convenor of the Coalition to Repeal the 8th Amendment
  • Dil Wickremasinghe, Social Justice, Mental Health Broadcaster and Activist

With creative contributions from:

  • Sarah Griffin, author of 'Not Lost'
  • Maud in Cahoots
  • Delorentos

#FemFest will:

  • Provide a fun and engaging space for young women aged 16-24 to engage with issues relating to body image and leadership, from a feminist perspective.
  • Explore and raise awareness of the issues affecting young women in Ireland today, particularly in relation to leadership and body image.
  • Empower young women to use their own voice and agency by asking them to set practical objectives on how to address these issues into the future.
  • Create an important opportunity for engagement with a diverse group of women from all over Ireland, and from varying socio economic backgrounds.
  • Provide a legacy for future action to progress the rights of young women in Ireland.
