How to become a member of the NWCI

There are two types of membership of the National Women's Council of Ireland.

  1. Members (groups), and
  2. Supporting members (individuals or groups who do not meet the criteria to be an member ).

What are the criteria to become a member of the NWCI?

To become a member of the NWCI, you must be one of the following:

  • A women's group
  • A women's section or committee of a larger national organisation, such as a trade union or political party
  • An organisation, where women comprise the majority of the membership
  • In existence for one year prior to application
  • Have a minimum of 10 individual members.

Note : A national organisation and group with multiple branches, which wishes to become a member, may choose to seek membership for its national organisation or one of its branches but not both and such organisations shall not have more than one vote.

Each application for NWCI membership is checked against the set of criteria above, and is then passed to the Executive Board of the NWCI for approval.

Affiliate fees vary from €30 (non funded groups) €150 (funded groups) up to €1000 depending on size of membership.

How to become a Supporting Member

Supporting membership is open to all individuals and groups who do not meet the criteria above but wish to support the mission and work of the NWCI.

Supporting membership costs:

  • For an individual:
    (Waged) €30 per year,
    (Unwaged) €15 per year
  • And €150 per year for a group.
