Economic Equality

The aim of the NWCI's work on Economic Equality is to achieve economic independence for women and to ensure an equal distribution of resources between women and men in society.

As the economic environment has changed significantly, the NWCI has produced a number of documents relevant to the current economic discussions and decisions that will be made in the coming years.

  • 'The McCarthy Report - the NWCI responds'.
    - Which outlines the NWCI response to the McCarthy Report (June 2009) which identified cuts that could be proposed in Budget 2010 and beyond.
  • 'The NWCI Pre Budget 2010 Submission'
    - which sets out what actions the Government should take in the Budget in order to protect women's rights and the gains that women have made over the past two decades.
  • 'All our Children - NWCI Briefing Paper on Child Benefit'
    - a briefing paper in relation to Child Benefit 'as Child Benefit has been particularly targeted by government to either cut, tax or means-test the payment.
