Why is anti-racism work an issue for women's equality?

Racism is a specific form of discrimination and exclusion faced by minority ethnic groups. It is based on the false belief that some races are superior to others because of different skin colour, nationality, ethnic or cultural background. Racism deprives people of their basic human rights dignity and respect.

The NWCI recognises the multiple forms of racism, discrimination and oppression faced by women from minority ethnic groups in Ireland.

What is NWCI Doing about This Issue?

We have provided training and networking opportunities for women from minority ethnic groups and consult regularly with our members who work directly on this issue.

The NWCI is a member of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) Ireland. ENAR Ireland the Irish Co-ordination for the Europe wide network ENAR. Each year ENAR Ireland publishes reports on racism in Ireland as part of a European wide survey of racism in Europe.
