Online Conference: Sexual & Gender Based Violence: Migrant Women’s Perspective
Thursday, November 26, 2020
AkiDwA is hosting an online conference this November, to highlight the perspective of migrant women facing sexual and gender based violence. As a group, migrant women often face multiple discriminations based on their gender, their race, culture, immigration status which puts them at a higher risk of domestic violence, trafficking and harmful cultural practices such as FGM and forced and early marriages.
On November 26th, we will gather migrant experts and GBV experts to discuss the intersectionality of violence against migrant women and pathways to a more safe and equal society. We will also be presenting new research on trafficking and sexual exploitation of African women in Ireland.
