International Women's Day - Sunday March 11th - Lots of Events Celebrating International Women's Day
In keeping with the theme for this year's International Women's Day, we're joining the global campaign to #PressforProgress. Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. While we know that gender parity won't happen overnight, the good news is that across the world women are making positive gains day by day. A very strong and growing global movement of advocacy, activism and support has emerged and we're playing our part.
Join us on March 11th as we consider women and economic power with Dawn Foster and others. We'll meet Northern Broads, Susan McKay, Margaret Ward, Medbh McGuckian, Elaine Gaston and singer songwriter Hannah Peel celebrating Northern Ireland's remarkable women writers. We'll also host a public interview with Maggie O'Kane, who is best known for her trailblazing reportage throughout the 1990s and 2000s and more recently in relation to her global campaign to end the practice of FGM. We're also screening Jaha's Promise, the story of a young woman's battle against extraordinary odds to eradicate the practices that almost destroyed her life. So make International Women's Day YOUR day and join the conversation. List of Events http://mountainstosea.ie/international-womens-day
Our entire programme features well over 50% women writers and commentators,
and we highlight women throughout the days of the festival from raising
awareness amongst the very young with our Be Bold children's programme
