Reminder Deadline for Motions for the AGM must be received in the NWCI by 5pm on May 12th 2011

What are NWCI motions?

NWCI Annual General Meeting will take place 23rd June 2011, Dublin

At the Annual General Meeting of the NWCI members are invited to put motions before the members for voting.

We would encourage members to put forward motions that are in line with the Strategic Plan of the organisation.Click here to see a draft of the NWCI Strategic Plan and examples of previous AGM Motions. Please refer to this plan to ensure that the work of the NWCI is carried out in a focused and strategic manner; resources are used efficiently; and the best interests of our members are served.

  • A motion can be a request for:
  • support
  • NWCI to take action
  • affirmation

If a motion is passed by a majority of the meeting it informs the policy work of the NWCI and will be acted upon within the resources of the strategic work plan. It is one of the opportunities for members to put their issues forward and to gain support for their work.

Guidelines for submitting a Motion

  • Please use the template which was posted to you when submitting your motion.
  • The Proposer of a motion must be in attendance at the AGM otherwise the motion will fall
  • It is preferable that the Seconder of a Motion is also in attendance at the AGM in order to ensure that the motion is fully discussed. However in the event that the Seconder cannot be present, the AGM Chairperson will exercise her discretion in allowing the Motion to be seconded from the floor.
  • Please note that the signatures of both the Chair of the Organisation proposing the motion and also the Chair of the Organisation seconding the motion are required. We will accept hard-copies, faxes and scanned documents once the signatures are clearly legible and the document is received by 5pm on May 12th.
