I wish to advise you of the launch of 'The Other Half' on the 23rd November 2010. The Other Half is an alliance of men's and women's national networks working together to end men's violence against women. This alliance includes:
Ø SAFE Ireland which is the national representative body for 41 frontline women's domestic violence services in Ireland
Ø Rape Crisis Network Ireland (RCNI) which is the national representative body for Rape Crisis Centres in Ireland and
Ø The Men's Development Network which is a national organisation working with men to engage with the issues facing themselves, their families and their communities
Men make up half the population. For a variety of reasons, violence against women has been largely tackled by women and has been seen as a women's issue.We believe it is time to work with men - or the other 50% of the population - as important allies against violence.
