At 8.2% in May, inflation is at its highest level in 40 years. The impact has not been felt equally. Inflation cuts deepest on those with the least, with people in the bottom 20% of the income distribution experiencing the greatest impact on their living standards. Budget 2023 must addressing cost of living through public services and income supports.
