JOIN OUR TEAM: Social Prescribing Project Lead

Published: Wednesday, July 30, 2025

The National Women’s Council (NWC) is recruiting a Social Prescribing Project Lead to coordinate and project manage an 18-month Equality Proofing Project evaluating HSE-funded social prescribing sites.

Social prescribing is a health initiative that recognises how social factors like poverty, isolation and loneliness impact people’s health. It allows GPs and other health professionals to refer people to non-clinical, community-based supports that can improve wellbeing, such as exercise classes or social groups.

About the project

This Equality Proofing Project aims to improve access to social prescribing for women who are currently underserved – particularly young women, women in midlife, and women from minority ethnic and other marginalised communities. This aligns with NWC’s commitment to ensuring that health services are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the diverse needs of women throughout their lives.

The successful candidate will oversee the design and delivery of the project plan, including coordination with an external researcher. While they will not conduct the research themselves, the Project Lead will be the key point of contact for the researcher and will provide strategic and project management leadership throughout the process.

NWC staff work in a hybrid system of remote/in office/in person working. All staff must work from the office on Tuesday and Wednesday, but this could be more days depending on role requirements.

This post is a four-day week (28 hours) position for an 18-month contract.

Salary (non-negotiable): €48,329 per annum (pro rata), with an actual salary of €38,663 for a four-day week.
