Irish Women Workers Union IWD Walking Tour
Sunday, March 08, 2015

Calling all Obstreperous Lassies - get your walking shoes on and join the Irish Women Worker's Union on Sunday, March 8 to celebrate International Women's Day 2015!
They meet at 11am at the former Jacob's factory – on the steps of DIT Aungier St. Recommendded are comfy walking shoes and rain gear – there will be a walk rain or shine! The tour lasts about 2 hours and note, that it ends at Liberty Hall.
The walk will take in some of the key stories and places, including Jacob's biscuit factory on Bishop Street, the Women's Suffrage campaign, the 'Antient Concert Rooms' on Great Brunswick [now Pearse] St, and ending at the new Rosie Hackett bridge and Liberty Hall. The walk remembers many of the women who played a part in the rebellious years from 1911 to 1916, notably the 1913 Lockout and 1916 Rising. The walk will also remember the laundry women of the Irish Women Workers Union (IWWU), who successfully struck for a week's paid holiday.
