Regional Seminar: Women Beyond the Dáil/ NWC and Cork City Council

On 20th November 2024, we will host an in-person session at Cork City Council from 10:45am to 12:30 pm to discuss women’s experiences in Irish politics and explore how we can better support women in public office. 

From the most recent local elections, there were only five women elected to Cork City Council, representing just 16% of the total Councillors.

This regional seminar aims to gather insights from female politicians in Cork City about their experiences and offer recommendations to improve the representation and retention of women, including those from diverse backgrounds, in Irish politics. Some recommendations outlined in our recent report, Women Beyond the Dáil.
