Don’t forget to BYOB; fighting the patriarchy can be thirsty work!!

This charity event is one of many plays, performances and projects scheduled to coincide with the multidisciplinary conference, 1916: Home: 2016.
“The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty,
equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens,
and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness
and prosperity of the whole nation and all of its parts,
cherishing all of the children of the nation equally.”
– Proclamation of the Irish Republic
The purpose of 1916: Home: 2016 is to mark the 20th anniversary of the closing of the last Magdalene Laundry in Ireland, in the wake of the 1916 commemorations. While many fought for an idea of home in 1916, others were confined and silenced in homes such as the Laundries, Mother and Baby homes, industrial and reformatory schools, orphanages and related institutions.
