NWC Submission on the Draft General Scheme of a DSGBV Agency Bill

NWC welcomes the invitation to make a submission on the Draft General Scheme of a DSGBV Agency Bill. Previous submissions, such as NWC Submission on the Third National Strategy on Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence and the National Observatory Shadow Report to Grevio in respect of Ireland addressed some of the recommendations that NWC considers key to combat DSGBV. NWC strongly welcomes the establishment of the DSGBV Agency as it will provide new coordination and a clear structure for delivering the Government’s Strategy on DSGBV. The Agency will include a wide range of crucial functions to tackle DSGBV. However, NWC recommends strengthening inter-agency collaboration (to ensure whole-government approach), participation of CSOs and NGOs (including survivors’ experiences), as key elements for the effective and efficient planning, implementation, monitoring and accountability mechanisms of the Agency to tackle DSGBV.
