Protest Gathering

The Executive Council of Congress has organised a protest gathering to take place outside of Leinster House (Kildare Street entrance), onWednesday 29thSeptember between 1-2pm (assemble at 12.30pm outside Anglo Irish Bank, Stephen's Green), as part of the ETUC day of action and to coincide with the resumption of the Dáil following the summer recess.

The priority of the Dublin protest is to highlight the government's mishandling of the various crises we face, which has placed the entire burden of recovery onto working people, their families and the most vulnerable in our society. The immediate focus of our concern is on jobs and our demands for a strategy to maintain and create employment.

The full collaboration of SIPTU members is required for the protest, which will be the kick-off for a rolling campaign against government deflationary policies and in favour of a better, fairer alternative.

Particular emphasis should be placed on including young workers and where possible, unemployed members, among participants.
