What does Budget 2027 mean for women & gender equality?

Budget 2027 – the second of this Government – was an opportunity for politicians to be brave in their thinking and propose fiscal policy and tax reforms that substantially reduce inequalities in Ireland. Granted, it contains some welcome measures, but it falls short on the long-term goals that matter most: a more gender-equal society, a more environmentally sustainable economy, and a serious effort to tackle poverty rates that remain stubbornly high and continue to rise. Enshrining women's rights in legislation,expanding public services, and meeting our environmental targets will demand far greater drive and determination if Ireland is to achieve true gender equality.
