National Women’s Council of Ireland expresses sorrow at the death of Inez Mc Cormack

Published: Monday, January 21, 2013

Today the National Women's Council of Ireland (NWCI) expressed their sorrow at the death of Inez Mc Cormack.  Former president of ICTU, Inez was also a key activist in the Northern Ireland civil rights movement.

Orla O'Connor, Director of the NWCI said,

'Inez will be sadly missed by those of us active in the field of human rights and equality. She was a committed feminist and worked to build solidarity amongst women from different traditions and sectors. Inez was a strong advocate for the rights of those who are most marginalised in Ireland and throughout the world.'

Orla O'Connor added.

'Inez was a supporter of the work of the National Women's Council and of women's groups throughout Ireland North and South. She was kind and generous with her time and expertise and supported many activists in working for a better and more equal society. We offer our sincere condolences to her family, her colleagues and her many friends."
