ICTU Briefings on New Economic Model

Monday, April 08, 2024

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is hosting a series of briefing meetings on the ‘New Economic Model’ at a number of venues around the island, North and South (Northern dates to follow), to inform affiliates of our proposed strategy to promote a high-road economic model which will seek to broaden labour market opportunities and promote collective bargaining on the island of Ireland.

BDC 2023 endorsed the Executive Council Motion ‘New Economic Model’ which called for a debate throughout the trade union movement to help “develop a comprehensive long-term model of economic development for both economies on the island of Ireland.” In these meetings we will look at: • How the state is resourced • The right to collective bargaining • An inclusive economy for all that is sustainable • How to be prepared for future economic challenges We look forward to outlining the proposed strategy to all affiliates at our regional meetings and to hear your opinions and your views as to what should be in the final economic model which will take place in the venues opposite at 7pm. We encourage union members, activists and officials to attend these important meetings.

Please register your interest in attending (stating which briefing you wish to attend) to Deirdre Mannion deirdre.mannion@ictu.ie
