A Community Work Response to the Issue of Drug Use

This workshop will explore appropriate community work responses to the issue of drug use.

The virtual workshop is part of a CWI/AIEB Continous Practical Development (CPD) inititative to create opportunities for community workers to build on their skills and knowledge in areas of relevance to community work practice. All particpiants will recieve CPD certificate on completion of the workshop.

Keynote Speakers

Dr Brian Melaugh holds professonal qualifications in community work, social work and is a lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Studies, Maynooth Univerisity. Before taking up an academic position he worked extensively in the areas of drug practice and policy and maintains a strong interest in, and commitment to ensuring a community voice in informing policy.

Gary Broderick is a Director of SAOL project, an organisation with a track record in promoting the needs of a female drug users and their children. He lectures in addiction on several programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels to students of community work, youth work and social work.
