Women’s Mental Health Network

The National Women’s Council (NWC) and St Patrick’s Mental Health Service (SPMHS) have come together to develop a Women’s Mental Health Network (WMHN). This is a network of people and organisations with a committed interest in women’s mental health issues.

The network has two aims:

  • To provide a forum for information-sharing and networking
  • To advance interdisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration on women’s mental health issues

To do this we share information via newsletters and online updates and organise education and networking events hosted collaboratively by SPMHS and NWC.

How do I become a member of the network?

If you would like to sign up to the network it is totally free and you will be kept up to date on future events we run and take part in information sharing. Joining is easy, here's what you need to do:

  1. Fill the Women’s Mental Health Network Registration Form

  2. If you have any questions or concerns, please write to Poushali Kundu, Women's Health Officer at NWC, at poushalik@nwci.ie.

You can withdraw your membership at any time in the same way.

Network events

The network was launched at a special event on November 6th 2018, which also saw the launch of the NWC report – ‘Out of Silence – women’s mental health in their own words’, presented on the day by co-authors Dr Cliona Loughnane and Jenny Liston. Dr Clodagh Dowling, principal psychologist at SPMHS gave a keynote presentation on ‘Listening to women’s experiences’, and broadcaster Louise McSharry moderated a panel discussion which included Missy Collins of Pavee Point and Aoife Price of the Union of Students of Ireland.
